Zendesk MCP server: ask questions, get governed answers
Zendesk is a customer support platform; it holds tickets, agents, groups, SLA policies, satisfaction scores and help center content.
Try it on your own data in a pilot.
Zendesk AI analytics: what you can ask
Typical questions from customer support teams. Each answer shows the definition, source and query behind it.
- How many tickets were created and solved each day last week?
- Which tickets breached their SLA this month, by group?
- What is the median first reply time by agent this quarter?
- Show open tickets by priority and status.
- Which ticket tags grew the most compared to last month?
- Compare customer satisfaction scores this quarter versus last quarter, by group.
Worked example: a governed Zendesk answer
One question, and everything the answer shows so you can check it. The figures are invented sample data.
What was the median first reply time by group last week?
Approved definition: First reply time
Business-hours minutes from ticket creation to the first public agent reply, for tickets created in the week. Tickets created by agents without a customer message are excluded.
Source
- Tickets (group, created_at)
- Ticket metrics (reply_time_in_minutes.business)
Query (Zendesk search, then ticket metrics)
type:ticket created>=2026-10-05 created<2026-10-12
→ ticket metrics: reply_time_in_minutes.business
→ median per groupResult
| Group | Tickets | Median first reply |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 Support | 1,240 | 38 min |
| Billing | 310 | 1 h 12 min |
| Technical | 185 | 2 h 05 min |
Common pitfalls when asking Zendesk questions
Each one is settled once in an approved definition, so every person and every assistant gets the same answer.
Business hours or calendar hours
Zendesk records reply and resolution times in both. Mixing them makes teams with different schedules look faster or slower than they are.
Solved, closed and reopened
A solved ticket can be reopened and solved again. The definition says whether resolution time uses the first or the final solve.
Tickets with no customer message
Agent-created and outbound tickets have no first reply in the usual sense. Including them drags medians down; the definition excludes them.
How Nexatron connects to Zendesk
- Whose permissions
- Each person connects their own Zendesk account, so answers return only the records that person can already see in Zendesk.
- Read and write
- Read-only. Nexatron reads Zendesk data to answer questions and never writes to Zendesk.
- Setup
- Sign-in happens on the vendor's own OAuth consent screen; Nexatron never sees a password. Steps: choose the source → check prerequisites → enter connection details → approve access → verify → ask. No data migration and no pipeline to build: data is queried where it lives.
Zendesk MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Nexatron's hosted MCP server is a governed Zendesk MCP connector: Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot ask questions of your Zendesk data through it. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant sees only what they may see.
Connect Zendesk to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot
- Connect Zendesk to your Nexatron workspace.
- In Claude, add Nexatron from Claude's connector directory. In ChatGPT or Copilot, add a custom MCP connector with the server URL
https://api.nexatron.io/api/v1/mcp. - Sign in with your own Nexatron identity (OAuth 2.1), then ask your Zendesk questions.
Zendesk connector FAQ
- Can I ask Zendesk questions without writing queries?
- Yes. The connector is available now. Ask in Teams, Slack, the Nexatron web app, or an AI assistant connected through Nexatron's MCP server.
- Does Nexatron respect Zendesk permissions?
- Yes. With a personal connection, answers return only the Zendesk records that person can already see.
- Can Nexatron change data in Zendesk?
- No. Nexatron only reads Zendesk data.
- What do I need to connect Zendesk?
- A user who can approve access on the vendor's own sign-in screen.
- Is there a Zendesk MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot?
- Yes: Nexatron's hosted MCP server, once Zendesk is connected to your workspace. It is Nexatron's server, not one published by Zendesk, and the assistant gets the same governed answer as the Nexatron app.
- How is Nexatron different from Zendesk AI?
- Zendesk's AI features help agents inside Zendesk. Nexatron answers support-performance questions for managers and other teams, from Teams, Slack, the web app or a connected assistant, with the definition and source shown, and can combine Zendesk with CRM or billing data when federation is on (the default for new workspaces).
- Can Nexatron answer Zendesk dashboard and reporting questions?
- Yes. Ask about ticket volume, SLA breaches, reply times or satisfaction. Zendesk's own reports stay useful for daily views; Nexatron covers the questions they do not.
Try Nexatron on your own Zendesk data
A pilot starts with three questions your team already asks and the report you trust for each, so you can check the answers yourself.
Zendesk is a trademark of its owner. Nexatron is not affiliated with or endorsed by it; the name and mark identify the system Nexatron connects to.
