Gong MCP server: ask questions, get governed answers
Gong is a revenue intelligence platform that records and analyzes sales calls and meetings, storing transcripts, call metadata and deal activity.
Try it on your own data in a pilot.
Gong AI analytics: what you can ask
Typical questions from sales and revenue teams. Each answer shows the definition, source and query behind it.
- How many sales calls did each team hold last month?
- Which 10 reps had the highest talk-time ratio this quarter?
- Compare average call length this quarter with last quarter
- List open deals with no recorded call in the last 30 days
- How often were competitors mentioned on calls each week this quarter?
Worked example: a governed Gong answer
One question, and everything the answer shows so you can check it. The figures are invented sample data.
How many external calls did each sales team hold last month?
Approved definition: External call
A recorded call with scope External, counted once per call and attributed to the team of the call's primary user.
Source
- Calls (scope, started, primaryUserId)
- Users (team)
Query (Gong API request (shortened))
POST /v2/calls/extensive
filter:
fromDateTime: 2026-09-01T00:00:00Z
toDateTime: 2026-10-01T00:00:00Z
→ keep calls with scope = External
→ count per primary user's teamResult
| Team | External calls |
|---|---|
| SDR | 1,180 |
| Mid-market | 655 |
| Enterprise | 412 |
Common pitfalls when asking Gong questions
Each one is settled once in an approved definition, so every person and every assistant gets the same answer.
Internal and external calls
Team meetings and customer calls are both recorded. Activity metrics usually mean external calls only; the definition says so.
Shared calls
A call with three reps counted per participant appears three times. Count per call, attributed to the primary user, unless the question is about participation.
Only recorded calls exist
Calls that were not recorded never reach Gong. Low activity can mean recording was off, not that no meeting happened.
How Nexatron connects to Gong
- Whose permissions
- Your administrator approves the access the Gong connection uses. Where Gong supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access, and Nexatron roles decide who in your company can ask.
- Read and write
- Questions are read-only: asking never changes Gong data.
- Setup
- Our team sets up the Gong connection with your administrator during the pilot. No data migration and no pipeline to build: data is queried where it lives.
Gong MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Nexatron's hosted MCP server is a governed Gong MCP connector: Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot ask questions of your Gong data through it. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant sees only what they may see.
Connect Gong to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot
- Connect Gong to your Nexatron workspace.
- In Claude, add Nexatron from Claude's connector directory. In ChatGPT or Copilot, add a custom MCP connector with the server URL
https://api.nexatron.io/api/v1/mcp. - Sign in with your own Nexatron identity (OAuth 2.1), then ask your Gong questions.
Gong connector FAQ
- Can I ask Gong questions without writing queries?
- Yes. Ask in Teams, Slack, the Nexatron web app, or an AI assistant connected through Nexatron's MCP server.
- Does Nexatron respect Gong permissions?
- Yes. Where Gong supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access.
- Can Nexatron change data in Gong?
- No. Asking a question never changes Gong data.
- What do I need to connect Gong?
- An administrator who can approve the connection. Our team sets it up with them during the pilot.
- Is there a Gong MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot?
- Yes: Nexatron's hosted MCP server, once Gong is connected to your workspace. It is Nexatron's server, not one published by Gong, and the assistant gets the same governed answer as the Nexatron app.
- How is Nexatron different from Gong's own AI features?
- Gong's AI features analyze conversations inside Gong. Nexatron answers activity questions from Teams, Slack, the web app or a connected assistant, applies your definitions, and shows the source and request behind each number.
- Can Gong call activity be combined with CRM pipeline data?
- Yes, when your CRM is connected too and federation is on (the default for new workspaces). For example, open deals with no external call in the last 30 days uses Gong for calls and the CRM for deals, and the answer lists both sources.
Try Nexatron on your own Gong data
A pilot starts with three questions your team already asks and the report you trust for each, so you can check the answers yourself.
