Stripe MCP server: ask questions, get governed answers
Stripe is a payments platform; it holds charges, payouts, subscriptions, invoices, customers, refunds and disputes.
Try it on your own data in a pilot.
Stripe AI analytics: what you can ask
Typical questions from finance and revenue teams. Each answer shows the definition, source and query behind it.
- What was gross payment volume by day over the last 30 days?
- How many subscriptions were canceled last month, by plan?
- What is monthly recurring revenue by plan compared to last month?
- Which disputes are open, and what are their amounts?
- Show refunds as a percentage of charges by month this year.
- Which customers have failed payments in the last 14 days?
Worked example: a governed Stripe answer
One question, and everything the answer shows so you can check it. The figures are invented sample data.
What is our monthly recurring revenue by plan right now?
Approved definition: MRR
Active subscription items' price times quantity, normalised to a monthly amount (annual prices divided by 12), after recurring discounts, in USD. Trialing and canceled subscriptions are excluded.
Source
- Subscriptions (status, items)
- Prices (unit_amount, recurring.interval)
- Discounts
Query (Stripe API request)
GET /v1/subscriptions?status=active
&expand[]=data.items.data.price
→ per item: unit_amount × quantity ÷ months in interval
→ less recurring discounts, summed per planResult
| Plan | Active subscriptions | MRR |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 460 | $18,400 |
| Growth | 230 | $52,900 |
| Enterprise | 35 | $96,250 |
Common pitfalls when asking Stripe questions
Each one is settled once in an approved definition, so every person and every assistant gets the same answer.
Gross volume versus net
A charge can later be refunded or disputed, and Stripe fees come off the payout. The definition says whether a number is gross, net of refunds, or net of fees.
Amounts in the smallest currency unit
Stripe returns 1999 for $19.99, while zero-decimal currencies such as JPY are not divided. The definition handles the conversion per currency.
Which subscriptions count
Trialing, past_due and paused subscriptions, and annual or quarterly prices, change MRR a lot. The definition lists the statuses included and how intervals are normalised.
How Nexatron connects to Stripe
- Whose permissions
- An administrator connects one Stripe service credential for the workspace; its scopes are the outer limit, and Nexatron roles decide who in your company can ask.
- Read and write
- Read-only. Nexatron reads Stripe data to answer questions and never writes to Stripe.
- Setup
- An administrator connects a service credential (API token or service-account key) issued by the vendor. Steps: choose the source → check prerequisites → enter connection details → verify → ask. No data migration and no pipeline to build: data is queried where it lives.
Stripe MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot
Nexatron's hosted MCP server is a governed Stripe MCP connector: Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot ask questions of your Stripe data through it. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant sees only what they may see.
Connect Stripe to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot
- Connect Stripe to your Nexatron workspace.
- In Claude, add Nexatron from Claude's connector directory. In ChatGPT or Copilot, add a custom MCP connector with the server URL
https://api.nexatron.io/api/v1/mcp. - Sign in with your own Nexatron identity (OAuth 2.1), then ask your Stripe questions.
Stripe connector FAQ
- Can I ask Stripe questions without writing queries?
- Yes. The connector is available now. Ask in Teams, Slack, the Nexatron web app, or an AI assistant connected through Nexatron's MCP server.
- Does Nexatron respect Stripe permissions?
- Yes, within the scopes of the Stripe credential your administrator connects. Nexatron roles decide who can ask.
- Can Nexatron change data in Stripe?
- No. Nexatron only reads Stripe data.
- What do I need to connect Stripe?
- A vendor-issued service credential and an administrator to connect it.
- Is there a Stripe MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot?
- Yes: Nexatron's hosted MCP server, once Stripe is connected to your workspace. It is Nexatron's server, not one published by Stripe, and the assistant gets the same governed answer as the Nexatron app.
- How is this different from the Stripe Dashboard?
- The Stripe Dashboard shows Stripe's standard views. Nexatron answers questions phrased your way, using your company's definitions, for example what counts as MRR, and can put Stripe figures next to CRM or ledger data when those systems are connected.
- Can Claude answer Stripe revenue questions through Nexatron?
- Yes. Once Stripe is connected to your Nexatron workspace, add Nexatron in Claude, sign in, and ask. Claude receives the governed answer with its definition, source and request, so revenue figures follow your company's rules instead of the assistant's guess.
- Which Stripe key does Nexatron use?
- An administrator connects one Stripe credential for the workspace. Stripe's restricted keys let you limit that credential to read access on the resources you choose, and Nexatron roles decide who in your company can ask.
Try Nexatron on your own Stripe data
A pilot starts with three questions your team already asks and the report you trust for each, so you can check the answers yourself.
Stripe is a trademark of its owner. Nexatron is not affiliated with or endorsed by it; the name and mark identify the system Nexatron connects to.
