Common pitfalls when asking SAP S/4HANA questions

Each one is settled once in an approved definition, so every person and every assistant gets the same answer.

• Company code, plant and controlling area

  Financial, logistics and controlling questions roll up differently. "By site" needs a definition that says whether it means plant or company code.

• Document, local and group currency

  S/4HANA stores amounts in several currencies at once. Summing document currency across company codes mixes euros and dollars.

• Fiscal year variants and special periods

  Fiscal years need not match the calendar, and special periods 13 to 16 hold closing entries. The definition says whether they are included.
