Azure DevOps MCP server: ask questions, get governed answers

A Microsoft platform for software delivery that holds work items, boards, Git repositories, build and release pipelines and test plans.

Try it on your own data in a pilot.

Azure DevOps dashboard questions you can ask

Typical questions from engineering and delivery management. Each answer shows the definition, source and query behind it.

  • How many work items were closed per sprint over the last six sprints?
  • Which areas have the most active bugs right now?
  • List user stories in the current iteration that are still not started
  • Which build pipelines failed most often this month?
  • Compare velocity across teams for the last three sprints

How Nexatron connects to Azure DevOps

Whose permissions
Your administrator approves the access the Azure DevOps connection uses. Where Azure DevOps supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access, and Nexatron roles decide who in your company can ask.
Read and write
Questions are read-only: asking never changes Azure DevOps data.
Setup
Our team sets up the Azure DevOps connection with your administrator during the pilot. No data migration and no pipeline to build: data is queried where it lives.

Azure DevOps MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Nexatron's hosted MCP server is a governed Azure DevOps MCP connector: Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot ask questions of your Azure DevOps data through it. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant sees only what they may see.

Connect Azure DevOps to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot

  1. Connect Azure DevOps to your Nexatron workspace.
  2. In Claude, add Nexatron from Claude's connector directory. In ChatGPT or Copilot, add a custom MCP connector with the server URL https://api.nexatron.io/api/v1/mcp.
  3. Sign in with your own Nexatron identity (OAuth 2.1), then ask your Azure DevOps questions.

Azure DevOps connector FAQ

Can I ask Azure DevOps questions without writing queries?
Yes. Ask in Teams, Slack, the Nexatron web app, or an AI assistant connected through Nexatron's MCP server.
Does Nexatron respect Azure DevOps permissions?
Yes. Where Azure DevOps supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access.
Can Nexatron change data in Azure DevOps?
No. Asking a question never changes Azure DevOps data.
What do I need to connect Azure DevOps?
An administrator who can approve the connection. Our team sets it up with them during the pilot.
Is there a Azure DevOps MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot?
Yes: Nexatron's hosted MCP server, once Azure DevOps is connected to your workspace. It is Nexatron's server, not one published by Azure DevOps, and the assistant gets the same governed answer as the Nexatron app.

Try Nexatron on your own Azure DevOps data

A pilot starts with three questions your team already asks and the report you trust for each, so you can check the answers yourself.

Azure DevOps is a trademark of its owner. Nexatron is not affiliated with or endorsed by it; the name and mark identify the system Nexatron connects to.
