Cosmos DB MCP server: ask questions, get governed answers

Azure Cosmos DB is a globally distributed NoSQL database from Microsoft that stores JSON documents and other models for application data such as profiles, carts and telemetry.

Try it on your own data in a pilot.

Cosmos DB AI analytics: what you can ask

Typical questions from engineering and product. Each answer shows the definition, source and query behind it.

  • How many new documents were added to the orders container each day this month?
  • Which 10 product categories have the most items in the catalog?
  • Compare this week's cart creations to last week
  • List orders in pending status for more than 48 hours
  • Break down device telemetry records by region for last week

How Nexatron connects to Cosmos DB

Whose permissions
Your administrator approves the access the Cosmos DB connection uses. Where Cosmos DB supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access, and Nexatron roles decide who in your company can ask.
Read and write
Questions are read-only: asking never changes Cosmos DB data.
Setup
Our team sets up the Cosmos DB connection with your administrator during the pilot. No data migration and no pipeline to build: data is queried where it lives.

Cosmos DB MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot

Nexatron's hosted MCP server is a governed Cosmos DB MCP connector: Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot ask questions of your Cosmos DB data through it. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant sees only what they may see.

Connect Cosmos DB to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot

  1. Connect Cosmos DB to your Nexatron workspace.
  2. In Claude, add Nexatron from Claude's connector directory. In ChatGPT or Copilot, add a custom MCP connector with the server URL https://api.nexatron.io/api/v1/mcp.
  3. Sign in with your own Nexatron identity (OAuth 2.1), then ask your Cosmos DB questions.

Cosmos DB connector FAQ

Can I ask Cosmos DB questions without writing queries?
Yes. Ask in Teams, Slack, the Nexatron web app, or an AI assistant connected through Nexatron's MCP server.
Does Nexatron respect Cosmos DB permissions?
Yes. Where Cosmos DB supports per-user sign-in, answers run under each person's own access.
Can Nexatron change data in Cosmos DB?
No. Asking a question never changes Cosmos DB data.
What do I need to connect Cosmos DB?
An administrator who can approve the connection. Our team sets it up with them during the pilot.
Is there a Cosmos DB MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot?
Yes: Nexatron's hosted MCP server, once Cosmos DB is connected to your workspace. It is Nexatron's server, not one published by Cosmos DB, and the assistant gets the same governed answer as the Nexatron app.

Try Nexatron on your own Cosmos DB data

A pilot starts with three questions your team already asks and the report you trust for each, so you can check the answers yourself.
