When Claude connects but the data question fails

"The integration does not work" can describe several different problems: authentication failed, tools were not available, a source was inaccessible, a question was ambiguous, or the returned result differed from expectations. Troubleshooting becomes faster when the user can name the boundary that failed before anyone changes permissions or reconnects accounts.

Name the failed boundary

Start by capturing the visible error and the time of the attempt. Record the client, the approved connector configuration, and whether the same user can access the relevant source through Nexatron itself. Keep sensitive records and credentials out of support messages. A concise description of the failing operation is often more useful than a complete conversation containing unrelated business details.

Separate sign-in from tool availability

If sign-in fails, verify the documented endpoint and the account being used. Check whether a workspace approval is required and whether the expected administrator has completed it. Repeating the same login flow cannot resolve a missing approval. A user who signs into several organizations should also confirm that the authorization targets the intended workspace.

If the connector appears connected but tools do not appear, inspect the client's connector settings and current workspace policy. Start a fresh conversation if the documented troubleshooting guide recommends it. Tool availability can depend on client behavior and administrator configuration. Do not infer a data problem from an interface that has not yet exposed the expected tool.

Check the source independently

A healthy MCP connection does not prove that a Salesforce, NetSuite, or warehouse credential is healthy. Ask whether the same bounded query works through the source's normal approved path. An expired source authorization or changed role can break the business operation while leaving the outer connection intact. Resolve that source-specific issue with its owner rather than expanding unrelated permissions.

Also distinguish an empty result from denied access and from an unavailable source. These are different states with different business meanings. A sales manager could legitimately have no visible opportunities in a region. Treating every empty table as a technical outage, or every permission failure as an empty business population, can lead to harmful conclusions.

Reduce the question carefully

When the connection and source are healthy, try a smaller question over a known population and period. Remove one dimension at a time while preserving the intended definition. If a simple total works and a cross-source comparison fails, that is useful diagnostic information. It does not justify reporting the simple total as though the original comparison had succeeded.

Check the wording for assumptions about currency, fiscal periods, customer identity, or metric names. A clarification request may be the correct behavior for an underspecified question. Document the business meaning that resolves it so future users can ask more effectively. Avoid repeatedly rewriting a question until an agreeable answer appears without understanding why earlier attempts differed.

Close with a reproducible explanation

A useful support record ends with the affected boundary, the resolved cause, the approved change, and the question that now passes. If the issue remains unresolved, record the limitation clearly. This protects the next business user from rediscovering the same problem and helps the implementation team prioritize fixes based on their actual operational impact.

For a Nexatron demonstration, keep a known reference question available as a diagnostic starting point. Ask the presenter to show how a failed connection, missing permission, and analytical refusal differ. That short exercise is often more revealing than a flawless scripted conversation because it shows whether the workflow can be supported after the launch meeting ends.

A useful incident description

A good ticket might say that the connector is connected, the source opens in Nexatron for the same user, and a particular aggregate question fails after the period filter is added. Include a redacted error and timestamp. That is more actionable than "Claude is broken" and safer than attaching an entire conversation. Preserve the smallest reproduction that still demonstrates the boundary at issue.
